FuchsiaWoman Rates the Red Carpet Dresses at the Academy Awards

Of course the BEST part of watching the Academy Awards Show is to see what the ladies are wearing and drool over the cool gowns. Without further ado, the winners are:

3rd Runner Up: Rachel McAdams in an Eli Saab Haute Couture. Floral clothes are a personal fave of FW, especially water color prints. She looks like an Impressionist painting. Well done.

And The Best Dressed Award Goes to: America’s Sweetheart Sandra Bullock. >>>><<<< (applause!!) The purple Golden Globes dress was fab. So were the Critic’s Choice and The SAG Awards dresses. But this Marchesa is sensational! Gorgeous pale gold metallic fabric and intricate floral embroidery on the bodice. Divine! So feminine, form fitting, and fantastic. Hair and make-up are equally superb. Love the look! (P.S. Very classy to show up for the Razzie Awards and accept the prize for “Worst” Actress. But it was NOT deserved. I thought Ms. Bullock did a great job portraying a lovable loonie crossword puzzle maker in All About Steve. I liked the movie — it was enjoyable and had a positive message, which makes it better than most of the stuff Hollywood pumps out. And the red boots were cute!)

Other Awards:

Best Color goes to Vera Farmiga in a Marchesa fuchsia extravaganza. Could have used a few dozen less ruffles. Oh well…

Vera Farmiga - Best Actress nominee for Up in the Air, starring with George Clooney.

The Butt-Ugly Award – for the Dress that should only be worn when dragging your trash can out to the curb at 5:00 AM when the entire neighborhood is asleep: Nicole Ritchie. Good Golly Miss Ritchie, what were you thinking? When I was growing up, we used to call this style of dress a Caftan. It was hideous in the 60s; still hideous now. It’s one step away from a Muu-Muu and the end of your career on the Red Carpet. Fire your stylist ASAP and hire Penelope Cruz’s, who always looks incredible.

Nicole Ritchie - Horrible HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!! Dress.

Most Interesting DressSarah Jessica Parker in Chanel. You have to see the back to appreciate it better. It’s a risk. It’s a bit out there. But let’s face it, Carrie Bradshaw can wear anything!
