Supreme Court Justice Extraordinaire - Sandra Day O'Connor
FWE Publishing is pleased to announce the 3rd recipient of the Fuchsia Woman Now Honey Pot Award. The winner is (drum roll -\-\-\-\-\-\-\-) Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
Madame Justice – You are being honored for:
Being the first Girl in a staunch centuries-old All Boys Club—thus earning the nickname FWOTSC. And by doing so, paved the way for other women to venture into the Land of No Women Allowed.
Doing an excellent job as a Supreme Court Justice and scooting over from the right to a more moderate position.
Not giving up on your dream to practice law—even when after graduation from Stanford Law School you were rejected over and over. And for telling the law firm that wanted to hire you as a legal secretary instead of a lawyer to take a hike.
Giving up your very cool job that you loved to care for a loved one.
Continuing to work—in a rigorous position as the Chancellor of the College of William and Mary—at the age of at an age of being revered and respected.
Speaking out as an advocate for judicial independence.
Writing the majority opinion for McConnell v. Federal Election Commission in 2003 to uphold campaign finance laws.
Publicly scolding your former Supreme Court colleagues about their egregious decision this month on Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission to remove campaign finance restrictions for corporations.
Making these comments about this ruling:
“The founders realized there has to be someplace where being right is more important than being popular or powerful, and where fairness trumps strength. And in our country, that place is supposed to be the courtroom.”
“Increasingly expensive and negative campaigns for judicial office erode both the impartiality of the judiciary and the public’s perception of that.”
“Ignoring the role of special-interest money, particularly in judicial election, is like ignoring an alligator in your bathtub.”
Well said, Justice O’Connor. And well done overall in making America better—more fair and equitable for all citizens—just as the Founding Fathers envisioned it.
Just as you deserved the Presidential Medal of Freedom awarded you in 2009, the FuchsiaWoman Now Honey Pot Award is similar, except that I’m not the POTUS. And I don’t have a big white house to present my award in. So, as soon as I run into you, I will give you yours:
To FWOTSC
XOXO
From FWOOTS (Fuchsia Woman Originator Of This Site)
In the meantime, keep up the good work!
P.S. Love the jacket — perfect color for a prestigious award!

Justice O'Connor receives the Presidential Medal of Freedom--wearing fuchsia, of course.
